GROUND SWELL DESIGN

Description

The Flywave has earned a reputation as a top-of-the-range waveboard for specialists and high-end surfers on the best spots around the world, but is equally well-loved by intermediates and in less than ideal conditions. The Flywave's heritage can be traced back to the rocker developed for Kai Katchadourian's Peahi board. The winger-swallow-based outline was developed in conjunction with Marc Paré, who has now returned to the team. The constant-curve rocker provides plenty of support under the mast, contributing to the Flywave's huge speed range. The winged profile combines the ability to finish downward turns in a vertical style with good grip up top.

In the development of the G7 Flywave, we've made several updates to the shape for the first time in several years. The first update is the tail length.
As some have noticed, the G6 Flywave 72 and 99 already have slightly shorter, and therefore wider tails than the rest of the range. In the case of the G7, the 78 and 84, they get the same shortened tail, and to some extent the 90 as well. The shorter tail makes the board more agile in the bottom turn, allowing it to
ride even more vertically, while giving the board better flow in the top turn. The 98 instead has a slightly longer and narrower tail to add early planing support for the bigger guys and bigger sails.

The second change introduced across all sizes is a new bottom shape layout in the back of the board. After several years of development, our board designer, Ola Helenius, came up with an entirely new Flywave design that uses the same central rockers as before, but has an increased and accelerated concavity in the tail, as well as a deepened channel concavity. Essentially, these two changes balance each other out.
Both features increase tail rocker along the gunwale and inside the concave, respectively, but while the increased edge rocker gives the board a quicker edge feel and a tighter turn, the tunnel concavity instead increases stability.

The tail improvements combined expand the range of different top turns the G7 Flywave can make and give the rider even more options for the type of lines they want to draw on the wave. Basically the board now has a bit more projection and tracking when the rider presses it but also reacts quicker in the transitions between turns.

  • Shorter tail on 78, 84 and 90 to add bite in turns
  • Longer tail length on 98 and 107 for increased lift capabilities sails
  • New double concave tunnel in the stern increases power and grip in turns
  • Five fin boxes give the Flywave the ultimate in adjustability, allowing you to configure the board as a quad or twin.
  • New 107-liter size, offering legendary Flywave performance for heavier riders
  • Updated pads with dual-density, heat-pressed foam
  • New strap design for improved ride comfort

Special features:

    style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 100%; text-align: left;">Dovetail Tail

With a reduced area behind the rear strap, this design provides precise take-off in the critical section of the wave, allowing for an
even more precise ride. The result is faster edge-to-edge transitions and a powerful, explosive top turn that commands attention.

  • Profile

Effective rocker with a progressive Vee and a low-resistance middle section that generates speed with ease. Curved rocker sections allow intermediate to expert riders to carve corners with confidence.

  • Dual Density EVA Pads

Dual Density EVA pads, 4MM high density top layer with diamond grip + hot stamped dots for excellent grip. The new pads feature a soft 8mm heel protector for maximum riding comfort and kick in the rear.

  • Double-screw inserts

Dual strap inserts provide maximum lift and adjustable position settings for tightness or personal preference up to 14.5cm or 15.5cm for the front straps or 14cm or 15cm wide for the rear foot strap.

  • GORETEX © AIRVENT Self-Adjusting Vent

Flywave comes standard with a self-adjusting Goretex © vent that allows air to flow between the foam core and the board's exterior while remaining completely waterproof. A double-layer Goretex membrane on both sides of the rubber O-ring prevents pressure build-up inside the board, minimizing the risk of delamination caused by overpressure inside the board, even during flight. You'll never have to unscrew the bleed screw again.

  • Standard Fin Setup // QUAD

Equipped with a quad fin setup, the Flywave G6 rides with more grip and control at higher wave speeds. The force of the fin set is more forward, which drives the front rail into the water and gives the board extra control during long turns. At the same time, the lower height of the two rear fins makes it easier to set the edge at high speeds, meaning the board is more responsive in side sh conditions.

  • Alternative Fin Configuration // TRI

In the waves, the Tri Fin setting provides the best possible grip and power in turns, helping the rider to make aggressive turns in fast, clean waves, as well as maintain speed in the downturn in lighter waves. The Tri Fin setting provides earlier planing, excellent upwind tracking and ease of sailing, while providing an incredibly tight turning radius. Versatility, speed and reliability are the main features of this configuration.
