The Board Armstrong Downwind Ocean 2025 is a highly advanced board built specifically for efficient and stable foiling on the open ocean, offering excellent performance in long-distance downwind runs thanks to maximum speed, lift and control in tough conditions.
Wing - Downwind
Product description:
Harness the energy of the open ocean.
Building on the heritage of the popularDownwind Performance board, theDownwind Ocean model is a bit more compact and agile, while still having a shape that allows for faster paddling. The key evolution is a new displacement-type hull instead of a planing one, which translates into greater paddling speed and better directional tracking - without needing the same length as the previous Performance model.
Extremely fast
The new displacement hull provides greater paddling speed and better directional tracking, which works perfectly for catching ocean swells - and requires less effort to reach the right speed, giving you every possible edge, especially during the final approach to take-off.
Agile
Thanks to its shape, the Ocean board is shorter than the earlier Performance model at the same volume - if you want to "draw" sharp S-shaped turns along the entire downwind run, this is the board for you; the shorter length also significantly improves responsiveness while pumping.
Control
The new shape, with more rounded rails and softer chines, provides stability and comfort, letting you paddle hard, while the flattened deck offers more standing room, so you can position your feet exactly where you need them to keep maximum control at high speeds.
More grip, more control
The grip on the deck of theDownwind Ocean has been designed to provide maximum control and comfort, supporting your progress in downwind riding. Just like on the Surf model, this grip has unique micro-grooves in the main section, which provide a confident hold during key maneuvers while still being flat enough to allow easy foot repositioning while riding. Double central strips and rear corner blocks increase traction, and blue markings show the foil rail position underneath.
A proven construction
A surrounding PVC layer provides extra rail protection against paddle strikes and increases nose and tail durability during transport and loading. The proprietary carbon foil rails are integrated directly with the stringer fibers, creating a fully unified construction.
A double carbon rail system
An ultra-stiff "sandwich" of double-layer carbon fiber and PVC, combined with Armstrong's renowned i-beam stringer system running from deck to bottom, provides maximum structural stiffness and strength. The foil rails are integrated with the stringer fibers for even greater consistency.
Forward Geometry Foil Track
Emphasizing modularity in design, Armstrong introduced the groundbreaking Forward Geometry concept in 2021, which increases responsiveness by placing the foil closer to the center and reducing inertia in turns. The new Downwind Ocean board continues this idea, fitted with FG rails positioned much further forward for maximum agility and an excellent "feel" for the foil in any condition, regardless of board size.
