The Board Armstrong Downwind MK III 2025 is an ultralight and efficient next-generation foil board, designed for maximum glide, an early take-off and long flight in downwind conditions and light wind.
Wing - Downwind / low wind / paddle
Product description:
The Downwind Mk III board was built with progression in mind - whether you're just starting your downwind journey or pushing the limits of surfing in short-period, skatepark-like conditions. The displacement hull significantly increases paddling speed and makes it easier to get up on the foil, and the board's refined shape makes flight pure enjoyment.
Glide
Bumpy conditions have never been easier.
The new displacement hull makes getting into bumps simpler than ever. It's fast and efficient, so you build up speed easily - without needing perfect paddling technique or a lot of strength.
Responsiveness
The Mk III outline is shorter and slightly narrower than the previous Downwind model, which translates into better in-flight maneuverability. Combined with foil rails in the Forward Geometry system, this means deeper turns and more efficient pumping.
Comfort
Despite its reduced dimensions, the Mk III stays stable and comfortable thanks to rounded rails and a flatter deck with a larger standing area. The new rail shape provides more predictable and comfortable side-to-side stability, so you don't suddenly lose your balance.
More grip, more control
The Downwind Mk III's deck grip has been designed for maximum control and comfort, to support your downwind progression. Similar in feel to the grip on the Surf Foilboard, this pad has unique micro-grooves in the main section, providing a confident hold during key maneuvers while still being flat enough to allow easy foot repositioning while riding. Double central arch bars and rear corner blocks increase traction, and blue markings show the foil rail position underneath.
A proven construction
A surrounding PVC layer over the rails provides extra protection against paddle strikes and increases nose and tail durability during transport or impacts during shuttle runs. The proprietary carbon foil rails are directly integrated with the stringer fibers, guaranteeing a fully unified and remarkably durable construction.

Forward Geometry
Emphasizing modularity in board design, Armstrong introduced the groundbreaking Forward Geometry concept in 2021. Designed to work with every foil, the FG system increases responsiveness by placing the foil more centrally and reducing inertia in turns. The new Downwind Mk III board continues this idea, fitted with FG rails shifted far forward - which maximizes maneuverability and gives an incredible in-flight feel for the foil, regardless of board size.
