Ozone Pocket Rocket V2 - a versatile parawing for freeride, downwind and wave

The Ozone Pocket Rocket V2 is a modern single-skin parawing, designed as a versatile solution for riders at every skill level. It combines ease of use with very good performance, offering a wide wind range, good upwind riding and intuitive handling.

The V2 version received a number of significant construction changes compared to the previous generation. It uses a shorter bridle system, a new Bow Bar, a more compact shape and a refined profile with improved canopy tension. A diagonal canopy reinforcement structure has also been introduced, which improves the parawing's behavior during angle-of-attack changes and increases its efficiency.

Characteristics

The Pocket Rocket V2 was designed as a do-it-all parawing - a model that works well both for first attempts with a parawing and for more advanced riding.

Compared to the first generation, the Aspect Ratio has been reduced and a more compact, elliptical outline is used. This makes the parawing easier to handle, faster to respond to the rider's movements, and less prone to catching a tip on the water.

At the same time, very good upwind performance has been retained. The Pocket Rocket V2 lets you move efficiently both on close-hauled courses and during downwinds, and the additional ability to pump lets you generate more power with your own movements.

A new profile and a wider power range

One of the most important changes in the V2 is the new profile and modified canopy geometry.

The reduced Aspect Ratio provides more power in the lower wind range, making it easier to start flying and get up on the foil sooner. Power is generated in a more progressive way, which makes it easier to control the parawing as wind strength increases.

The Pocket Rocket V2 also lets you actively increase power through pumping, which is especially useful during starts and when making use of light conditions.

A compact shape

The new, more compact shape reduces the risk of the parawing's tip contacting the water.

This is especially important during learning, turns and riding on a small foil, when the rider often works the parawing close to the water's surface.

The elliptical outline also improves response speed and makes handling more intuitive.

The Bow Bar

The Pocket Rocket V2 received a new Bow Bar, which replaced the classic solution used in the previous generation.

One of its advantages is the lack of a central line between the grip points. This lets the rider move their hand position more freely and better adapt their grip to the current situation.

The special layout of the Bow line allows for more even control of the canopy during angle-of-attack changes. This translates into more progressive power delivery and better control in both the lower and upper wind range.

Bow Bar sizes

Ozone uses two Bow Bar sizes:

  • 33 cm - for the Pocket Rocket V2 1.9 m2 and 2.4 m2

  • 36 cm - for the 3.0, 3.6, 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 m2 sizes

A shorter bridle system

The Pocket Rocket V2 uses a shorter bridle system inspired by solutions from the PowerPack model.

Shorter lines improve the parawing's reactivity and make it easier to fold. This means the V2 can be packed and stashed quickly while riding, although Ozone notes that in terms of packing speed it still falls short of the PowerPack model.

Specially coated front lines allow for smooth hand movement and reduce the risk of lines tangling while folding.

Good upwind riding

The Pocket Rocket V2 stands out with very good performance on upwind courses.

Compared to the PowerPack, which is more focused on simplicity, the Pocket Rocket model generates more forward-directed force and moves more efficiently through the wind window. This means it works better during longer flights and freeride.

For freeride, wave and downwind

The Pocket Rocket V2 is a very versatile parawing. It can be used for:

  • freeride,

  • downwind,

  • wave foiling,

  • long flights,

  • upwind riding,

  • learning to use a parawing,

  • advanced foil riding.

Ozone describes it as the best choice for most users looking for one, versatile parawing.

Available sizes

The Ozone Pocket Rocket V2 is available in seven sizes:

Size Weight with bar Bow Bar Number of cells
1.9 m2 440 g 33 cm 14
2.4 m2 480 g 33 cm 14
3.0 m2 570 g 36 cm 18
3.6 m2 630 g 36 cm 18
4.3 m2 690 g 36 cm 18
5.0 m2 745 g 36 cm 18
5.7 m2 795 g 36 cm 18

The stated weights include the parawing together with the bar.

Wind range

Ozone states the range for an average rider weighing around 80 kg. The range is approximate and depends, among other things, on skill level, board type and foil.

Approximate ranges for each size:

  • 1.9 m2 - about 20-40 kt

  • 2.4 m2 - about 17-36 kt

  • 3.0 m2 - about 15-33 kt

  • 3.6 m2 - about 14-30 kt

  • 4.3 m2 - about 13-27 kt

  • 5.0 m2 - about 12-24 kt

  • 5.7 m2 - about 10-22 kt

These ranges should be treated as approximate - the actual range will depend on the rider's weight, skill, foil and board.

Which size should you choose?

1.9 m2 - for very strong wind and fast riding on a small foil.

2.4 m2 - a very small parawing for strong conditions, for more advanced riders.

3.0 m2 - a versatile small size for strong wind.

3.6 m2 - a good choice for stronger conditions, offering a good balance between power and control.

4.3 m2 - a very versatile size for riders sailing in medium and stronger wind.

5.0 m2 - one of the most versatile sizes for freeride and downwind.

5.7 m2 - the largest size in the series, designed primarily for lighter wind and an early foil start.

Who is it for?

The Pocket Rocket V2 will be a good choice for:

  • people starting their adventure with a parawing,

  • riders switching from a classic wing to a parawing,

  • people riding downwind,

  • freeride-focused riders,

  • people looking for good upwind performance,

  • advanced riders using pumping,

  • people who need one versatile parawing for various uses.

Compared to the PowerPack, the Pocket Rocket V2 is more focused on performance, speed and upwind riding, while the PowerPack puts more emphasis on simplicity, easy folding and stash & glide.
