S1 _Manoeuvre oriented wave
The new S-1 is built on exactly the same scheme as the S-1 Pro but uses laminate materials VX2 and eM3 to reduce costs with just 150g added weight*.
GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretch. Overall weight has been reduced, but the more significant improvement is the feel - quicker response and lighter feel.
Instead of a single curved front panel, the S-1 uses separate panels that extend from the top and tack. This perfectly aligns the sail material with its load. Previously, a curved panel would tend to stretch in all the wrong places. Direct power transfer. Increased durability.
The boom length has been shortened on larger sizes (4.8 and up) to reduce the pressure on the back hand that increases as the wind increases. Instead, the power has been moved up the sail giving more leverage for instant acceleration
in light winds.

Technical Data:

What's new in the 023 S-1?
The 023 S-1 sails feature GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY, as well as using high-end materials such as VX2 and EM4.
What is the difference between the S-1 and the S-1 Pro?
The S-1 Pro uses CarbonFusion technology and is constructed with carbon fiber laminates.
The S-1 is less expensive than the S-1 Pro.
Can I rig the S-1 on an SDM mast?
No, the S-1 is designed for RDM masts.
What is the difference between the Blade and the S-1?
The S1 is more maneuver-oriented, meaning it has more power in the backhand, allowing for more direction change in the bottom turn and making it easier to turn in maneuvers like the wave 360.
The Blade is more neutral with more power in the front of the sail, giving much more control both when riding and jumping.
Does the S-1 change characteristics depending on size?
No, the S-1 is a wave sail in every size.

GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY
With the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY, the improvements are obvious. Less weight and better stability.
Thanks to the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY. The corners have overlapping panels, which reduces the number of layers. At the same time, these overlapping areas extend into the sail, making the sail better at carrying loads, less stretchable over a longer period of time. This is a more stable way of constructing sails.
GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretching. Overall weight is reduced, but the more significant improvement is the feel - it's more responsive and feels lighter.
Instead of one curved luff, we use separate panels - the split luff - that radiate from the head and clew. This perfectly aligns the sail material with its load directions.
Previously, a curved panel would tend to stretch in all the wrong places. Direct power transfer. Increased durability.
For S1 we recommend:
/Boards:
PYRO
STONE
NANO
DYNO
/Masts:
RDM RED - For the highest performance.
RDM BLUE - The highest performance with increased durability.
GORILLA - For durability with an unconditional 2-year warranty.
S1 is recommended, RDM masts are.
/Booms:
ENIGMA - For the highest performance.
METAL - For the highest class of performance.
/Extensions:
Cyclop
Wave Grenade
Comparison:
/ S-I PRO
S-I is cheaper.
/ BLADE
The S-I has 4 slats.
The S-I is more maneuver-oriented. S-I has a greater emphasis on the backhand.
/ BLADE PRO
S-I is more maneuver-oriented.
S-I has a greater emphasis on the backhand.
S-I has 4 blades.
