The Severne Blade Pro 2026 is the flagship, 5-batten wave windsurfing sail, built in CarbonFusion technology to provide maximum lightness, stiffness and responsiveness in all wave conditions.

Windsurfing - Wave / Bump & Jump

Product description:

The BladePro takes the Blade concept to a higher level. Built entirely from CarbonFusion, making it lighter, more responsive and more stable than the standard construction. This is Philip Köster's sail.

New for the 026 model is that even the batten pockets are now made from CarbonFusion. This makes the sail smooth and seamless from the back of the mast sleeve all the way to the loose leech. Eliminating the thousands of micro-holes created by stitching provides a number of benefits:

/ Instant response - less stretch and movement under load
/ Greater durability - no seam failure points
/ Lightness - a significant weight reduction thanks to the welded construction

The BladePro is the best control-oriented wave sail for all conditions.

Features / upgrades:

  1. A 5-batten construction
  2. New 3.1 and 3.4 sizes.
  3. CarbonFusion used on the batten pockets.
  4. Developed in collaboration with Scott McKercher and Philip Köster

Sizes: 3.1 / 3.4 / 3.7 / 4.0 / 4.2 / 4.5 / 4.7 / 5.0 / 5.3 / 5.7 / 6.2 / 6.7

Type: Wave / Bump & Jump

Questions for us:

  • What's changed from the 025 to the 026 Blade Pro?
The 026 Blade Pro now has a CarbonFusion construction across the whole surface, including the batten pockets - this is new for this sail. Combined with DirectConnect technology, which locks every connection point, this creates a sail that reacts instantly, with no delay.

  • What's the difference between the Blade and Blade Pro models?
The key difference between the Blade and Blade Pro models is the material they're made from, as well as the construction.

The Blade Pro is the only sail that's made entirely from carbon fiber laminates. Carbon is a higher-performance fiber than the Technora, Kevlar or polyester used in all our other sails.

A better strength-to-weight ratio, greater reactivity, a wider wind range.

The Blade Pro uses Carbon Fusion technology.
The Blade Pro uses a carbon fiber laminate from the top to the tack.
The Blade Pro is more reactive.
The Blade Pro has a better strength-to-weight ratio.

  • What is DirectConnect technology?
DirectConnect locks every connection point, creating a structural spring that provides instant response with no loss of energy. Traditional constructions allow flex at the points where components join, which causes a delay in power - DirectConnect eliminates this, providing an instant response to the rider's actions.

  • Can I rig the Blade Pro on an SDM mast.
No, the Blade Pro is designed for RDM masts.

  • WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLADE/BLADE PRO AND THE S-1?
The S-1 is a maneuverability-oriented sail, meaning it has more back-hand pressure, which allows for an easy line change during turns, 360 rotations or aerial tricks.

The Blade is kept in a neutral position in the front of the sail, to provide significantly more control while riding or jumping.

    The S-1 has 4 battens.
    The S-1 is more maneuverability-oriented.
The S-1 has more back-hand pressure.

    The BLADE has 5 battens.
    The BLADE is more control-oriented.
    The BLADE is more stable.
The BLADE is made entirely from X-PLY

  • WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLADE/BLADE PRO AND THE GATOR?
The Blade/Blade Pro is a sail built for wave riding, while the Gator is a crossover sail, built for both wave riding and freeride.

The Blade/Blade Pro was designed specifically for windsurfers who spend most of their time in the waves. It's a neutral sail that helps improve riding and jumping.

The Gator will be the best choice if you enjoy bump and jump conditions and occasionally ride waves. Thanks to its softer, easier handling, the Gator will get you up on the plane faster than others.

    The Gator is freewave/freeride-oriented.
The Gator gets up on the plane faster.
The Gator has five battens up to size 7.0 and six battens from size 7.5 upward.

    The Blade is more wave-oriented.
    The Blade is more stable.
    The Blade is more maneuverable.
    The Blade is less freemove/freeride-oriented.

  • Can I rig the Blade Pro on a mast from a brand other than Severne?
All of our development work, testing, setup and tuning is done using SEVERNE masts.
We strongly recommend our customers use SEVERNE masts. Our masts are designed around a specific SEVERNE bend curve, which remains one of the pillars of our rigs.
We don't test the performance or bend curves of other masts, so we can't guarantee the sail's performance or durability when used with a mast from another brand.
We describe our mast's curve as the SEVERNE curve.
Constant, hard-top or flex-top curves as described by general mast manufacturers are based on measurements at 3 points.
We measure our masts at at least 7 points.
