The Severne Blade 2026 is the iconic, 5-batten wave windsurfing sail, valued for its reliability, durability and precise control in a wide range of conditions, with an improved construction using D6 Dacron material.
Windsurfing - Wave / Bump & Jump
Product description:
The Blade provides 5-batten stability without the traditional weight trade-off. Forward-driving profiles and reduced back-hand pressure mean small changes in wind go unnoticed. The sail does its job, so you can focus on sailing.
The 026 Blade has been completely reworked to increase power and integrate the latest development concepts:
XR Xtended Range: developed to increase the wind range at both the low and high end. Deeper, more powerful profiles are locked in place by extra skin tension, which increases control and stability.
Fat Head: originally developed for the S-1, an enlarged head arc opens up even further under load, improving top-end control and wind range. Smaller sizes have relatively thicker heads, while larger sizes balance the head size to provide better aerodynamic performance.
DirectConnect: A system that directly connects the sail's load points to any rig component - masts, battens and the boom. No delay means the sail reacts instantly to the rider's movements.
CarbonFusion Trickle-Down: The BladePro construction is passed down to the Blade, with welded foot panels and carbon straps carrying the load at the head and tack.
Gradient Panel Technology: Overlapping corners logically reduce weight, increase durability and control stretch.
The 026 Blade sets a new standard, combining these design concepts with industry-leading materials, including VX2, SpiderFibre, eM4, as well as the new D6 Dacron in the luff.
The Blade is a wave sail oriented toward control in all conditions.

Questions for us:
- What's new in the 026 Blade?
The 026 Blade features a DirectConnect construction, which eliminates traditional seam reinforcements, providing cleaner, lighter sails with increased durability. We also introduced welded panels in the foot area and updated the material to D6 Dacron to improve feel and handling.
-
Why use D6 Dacron material in wave sails?
D6 Dacron material is lighter and softer than traditional Dacron, while keeping excellent tear resistance. It provides a more refined feel to the touch and lets the sail twist smoothly during gusts, providing better control exactly when it's needed most. -
What's the difference between the Blade and Blade Pro models?
The key difference between the Blade and Blade Pro models is the material they're made from, as well as the construction. The BLADE PRO uses Carbon Fusion technology.
The BLADE PRO uses a carbon fiber laminate from the head to the boom.
The BLADE PRO model is more reactive.
The BLADE PRO model has a better strength-to-weight ratio. -
Can I rig the Blade Pro on an SDM mast.
No, the Blade Pro is designed for RDM masts. -
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLADE/BLADE PRO AND THE S-1?
The S-1 is a maneuverability-oriented sail, meaning it has more back-hand pressure, which allows for an easy line change during turns, 360 rotations or aerial tricks. The Blade is kept in a neutral position in the front of the sail, to provide significantly more control while riding or jumping.
The S-1 has 4 battens.
The S-1 is more maneuverability-oriented.
The S-1 has more back-hand pressure. The BLADE has 5 battens.
The BLADE is more control-oriented.
The BLADE is more stable.
The BLADE is made entirely from X-PLY -
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLADE/BLADE PRO AND THE GATOR?
The Blade/Blade Pro is a sail built for wave riding, while the Gator is a crossover sail, built for both wave riding and freeride. The Blade/Blade Pro was designed specifically for windsurfers who spend most of their time in the waves. It's a neutral sail that helps improve riding and jumping.
The Gator will be the best choice if you enjoy bump and jump conditions and occasionally ride waves. Thanks to its softer, easier handling, the Gator will get you up on the plane faster than others.
The Gator is freewave/freeride-oriented.
The Gator gets up on the plane faster.
The Gator has five battens up to size 7.0 and six battens from size 7.5 upward. The Blade is more wave-oriented.
The Blade is more stable.
The Blade is more maneuverable.
The Blade is less freemove/freeride-oriented. -
Does the Blade's character change depending on size?
No, the Blade is a wave sail across its entire size range. Sails of different sizes have different uses, but broadly speaking, the riding feel stays the same throughout the range, which makes it easier to change sizes.
