Severne Convert 5.0 + 6.0 Windsurfing Set
A versatile freeride set for various wind conditions
The Severne Convert is a recreational freeride sail designed for easy planing, stability and simple handling. The no-cam construction makes the sail easy to tack and works well both when learning to plane and later when developing freeride skills.
A big advantage of the set is the possibility of using the same mast, boom and extension with both sails. The 5.0 m2 size will work well in stronger wind, while the 6.0 m2 will let you plane earlier and make better use of lighter gusts.
The whole set is completed with an aluminum STX Cyber 162-222 cm boom, an Infinity RDM 2 Big Rollers 30 cm extension, fixed Infinity Quick Fix 26" harness lines and a thick Infinity DeLuxe uphaul.
Who is this set for?
We especially recommend this set for:
-
beginner and intermediate windsurfers,
-
people learning to plane,

windsurfers looking for one set for various wind conditions,

-
people who want the option of quickly switching sails from 6.0 to 5.0,
-
windsurfers who value easy tacking and the absence of camber,
-
people looking for a durable and economical freeride set,
-
schools and windsurfing centers, where ease of use and equipment versatility matter.
What's included in the set?
Sail: Severne Convert 2026 5.0 and 6.0
The Severne Convert is a no-cam freeride sail designed for recreational and intermediate windsurfing. Its construction uses Gradient Monofilm technology, which combines low weight, profile stability and good performance.
Both sizes use a 430 cm mast, so one mast serves the whole set. The Convert 5.0 has a luff length of 432 cm and a 170 cm boom, while the Convert 6.0 has 448 cm and 183 cm respectively.
This is a very practical solution: when the wind starts to pick up, instead of changing the whole rig you just need to switch to a smaller sail.
The Convert 5.0 will be suitable for stronger wind, when more control and a smaller sail area are needed.
The Convert 6.0 provides more power and lets you plane earlier, so it will be the primary sail for lighter and medium conditions.
Key advantages:
-
a no-cam freeride construction,
-
Gradient Monofilm Construction,
-
a stable profile,
-
easy handling,
-
a fast planing start,
-
low weight,
-
simple tacking,
-
good control while riding,
-
can be used on both an RDM and an SDM mast.
Mast: Infinity Prime RDM 430 55% Carbon
The Infinity Prime RDM 430 55% Carbon is a durable and versatile mast designed primarily for recreational freeride. The 55% carbon content provides adequate stiffness and flex characteristics while maintaining high resistance to damage. The mast is made using Pre-Preg technology.
The RDM construction makes tacking easier, improves comfort when handling the rig, and makes switching the sail side during maneuvers easier.
The Infinity Prime uses Constant Curve characteristics, making it a versatile mast for many freeride applications.
Key advantages:
-
55% Carbon,
-
an RDM construction,
-
a length of 430 cm,
-
Pre-Preg technology,
-
good damage resistance,
-
comfortable handling,
-
a good compromise between weight, stiffness and durability,
-
a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.
Boom: STX Cyber 162-222 cm
The STX Cyber 4.0 is a durable aluminum boom with a monocoque construction. The 162-222 cm adjustment range easily handles both sails included in the set. The boom has a tube diameter of 29 mm and a wall thickness of 1.5 mm.
The Convert 5.0 requires about 170 cm, and the Convert 6.0 about 183 cm, so both settings fall within the safe part of the boom's range.
Key advantages:
-
an aluminum monocoque construction,
-
a 29 mm tube diameter,
-
a 1.5 mm wall thickness,
-
a 162-222 cm adjustment range,
-
60 cm of adjustment,
-
the Twin Pin system,
-
good stiffness,
-
a solid, durable construction.
Extension: Infinity RDM Alu 2 Big Rollers 30 cm
The Infinity RDM Alu 2 Big Rollers is an aluminum extension designed for RDM masts. Two large rollers reduce resistance when pulling in the luff, so tacking the sail requires less force and makes it easier to achieve the correct trim.
The 30 cm version provides an adequate adjustment range for both sails. The Convert 5.0 requires about 2 cm of extension, and the Convert 6.0 about 18 cm, so one extension can serve the whole set.
Key advantages:
-
an RDM construction,
-
an aluminum build,
-
2 large rollers,
-
easy pulling in of the luff,
-
adjustment every 2.5 cm,
-
the Euro Pin system,
-
an integrated cleat,
-
high durability.
Harness lines: Infinity Quick Fix 26"
The Infinity Quick Fix is a fixed harness line equipped with a quick-mount system. Thanks to the Quick Fix solution, the lines can be attached and removed without having to disassemble the boom.
The 26" version provides a versatile length for classic freeride. The lines are made from materials resistant to UV radiation and stretching.
Key advantages:
-
a length of 26",
-
a fixed construction,
-
the Quick Fix system,
-
fast assembly and disassembly,
-
UV resistance,
-
stretch resistance,
-
a solid construction.
Uphaul: Infinity DeLuxe Thick
The thick Infinity DeLuxe uphaul makes it easier to lift the sail out of the water, especially when learning and in situations where the rig needs to be raised quickly after a fall.
This is a practical piece of equipment that increases comfort when using the set and works especially well for beginner and intermediate windsurfers.
How does this set behave on the water?
The Convert 6.0 provides good power and lets you plane relatively early, while the Convert 5.0 gives more control in stronger wind. Both sails are light, predictable and easy to handle.
Thanks to the no-cam construction, switching sails is quick and simple, and the RDM further improves comfort during maneuvers.
This is a versatile freeride set that lets you move smoothly from learning to plane to more dynamic riding.
Hydrosfera's opinion
This is a very practical set for someone who wants to have the two most commonly used sail sizes without having to buy two complete rigs.
The biggest advantage here is versatility. One 430 mast, one boom and one extension serve both the Convert 5.0 and the 6.0. This makes the set simple to transport, store and handle.
The Convert 6.0 will be the primary sail for lighter and medium wind, while the 5.0 takes over when conditions get stronger.
Using the RDM 430 mast fits well with the character of these sails and additionally makes tacking and maneuvering easier. At the same time, it's worth remembering that Severne officially recommends its own masts because of their specific flex curve.
In short: a simple, durable and very versatile freeride set that lets you handle a wide range of conditions using one set of equipment.
