A DURABLE SAIL FOR RIDING WAVES IN ALL CONDITIONS WITH PERFECT ON-OFF BALANCE AND HIGH PULLING POWER.

Description

Developed in Margaret River, Australia by our design duo Patrik Diethelm and Fabio Canella, this sail has met the highest expectations of our riders from the very beginning.

The 4Wave offers a rather unique concept of innovative backhand power control. By defining the sail profile with a special mix of materials - from soft dacron in the front to the stiffest x-ply in the back of the sail - we were able to reduce the twist of the sail above the boom in a positive way that offers a bit of extra power - always available when you need it. The key to the exceptional performance of the
4Wave is the wide profile in the middle of the sail while maintaining a standard boom length. The panel above the boom has the cleanest airflow, allowing the wide panel to generate power and energy, while the narrow upper section ensures free flow. The incredible acceleration of this sail can easily outperform larger sails, so to get the full experience, make sure you sail a smaller 4Wave sail than usual: This means you can always use the sail's power, taking advantage of faster turns, more radical gybes, and better resistance to sail abrasion in big waves.

Material:

The choice of material and where to use it was one of the key points in the development of our wave series. Instead of increasing the shape of individual panels (which leads to additional stress on the seams and reduces the range of use), we decided to play with
the sail materials and carefully selected the right thickness for each area. Going from "mast to clew", we used soft Dacron on the luff, then 2 MIL x/scrim-ply on the front/top section and 4 MIL x/scrim-ply on the bottom section. All panels along the luff are made from a thicker 5 MIL x/warp. This mix helps the wind blow into the sail exactly where you need the power.

As a finishing touch, we applied our own Kevlar spreader tapes. These connect the clews, top and two innovative mini battens on the luff. The secret to the incredible wind range is (also) here...
Finally, we focused on delivering the lightest sail possible that will still be able to withstand a lot and last for years.
This is our true approach to sustainability.
