Severne Verso 138L + Convert 6.0 Windsurfing Set

A complete windsurfing set based on the Severne Verso 138L board and the Severne Convert 6.0 sail is a great choice for those who want to progress quickly while also having gear that allows a comfortable, dynamic ride on the plane.

The Verso 138 was designed as a Progressive Freeride board, whose most important traits are stability, very early planing and exceptionally easy handling through tail turns. Severne designed it specifically for windsurfers moving on from the basics to more advanced freeride.

The set is completed by the Severne Convert 6.0, a light, easy-to-handle, camber-free freeride sail. The Convert was created for beginner and intermediate windsurfers who want to easily get onto the plane and develop their technique without needing to switch to more demanding gear.

The whole package is equipped with a Severne Gorilla G2 RDM 430 mast, a Severne Metal 160-210 boom, a Severne Triple RDM 36 cm extension, an Infinity Excellent mast base and fixed Severne Fixed 28" harness lines.

Who is this set for?

We especially recommend this set for:

  • beginner and intermediate windsurfers,
  • people learning to get onto the plane,
  • people who want to start learning footstrap and harness riding,
  • windsurfers developing tail turns (jibes),
  • people looking for a stable, forgiving board,
  • people who ride recreationally on lakes and the sea,
  • windsurfers who want to combine easy handling with good freeride performance,
  • people who need one, versatile set for regular riding.

What's included in the set?

Board: Severne Verso 138L

The Severne Verso 138 is a Progressive Freeride board designed for the fastest possible progression. Its construction provides very high stability off the plane, easy sail uphaul, and predictable behavior while learning footstrap and harness work.

Central volume distribution keeps the board stable underfoot, while a progressive rocker line lets you accelerate quickly and get onto the plane early. The Verso was also designed to make it easier to go through the stages of a tail turn (jibe) and increase the chances of keeping the plane on the exit of the maneuver.

The 138 model has a length of 250 cm, a width of 78 cm, and weighs about 8.21 kg. The sail range is 4.0-8.0 m², and the board uses the Powerbox system and comes with a dedicated SV Verso 430 fin.

.

The Verso has three footstrap mounting positions, matching successive stages of skill development: beginner, intermediate and advanced. This lets the board 'grow' with the user.

  • Key advantages:
  • 138 liters of volume,
  • 78 cm of width,
  • very early planing,
  • high stability,
  • easy sail uphaul,
  • very good conditions for learning footstraps and harness use,
  • easy, predictable tail turns,
  • three footstrap positions,
  • dedicated Powerbox SV Verso 430 fin,
  • durable Full Wood construction,
  • Biaxial Glass and Rail Bands reinforcements,

comfortable 6 mm EVA pads.

Sail: Severne Convert 6.0The Severne Convert 6.0

is a light, camber-free freeride sail designed for beginner and intermediate windsurfers. Its character focuses on easy handling, stability and a simple entry onto the plane. The Gradient Monofilm

construction used provides a good compromise between weight, stability and performance. The sail's profile is predictable, so the Convert doesn't require much experience to handle. The 6.0 version has a luff of 448 cm, a boom of 183 cm and 5 battens, and weighs about 3.38 kg. Severne recommends an RDM 430 mast for this size. Compatible alternatives listed by the manufacturer include the RDM Blue and Gorilla 430

.

  • Key advantages:
  • camber-free freeride construction,
  • 6.0 m²,
  • 5 battens,
  • Gradient Monofilm,
  • lightweight construction,
  • stable profile,
  • easy handling,
  • quick planing,
  • simple rigging,

a good choice for learning and developing freeride skills.

Mast: Severne Gorilla G2 RDM 430The Severne Gorilla G2 RDM 430

is a mast designed with an emphasis on durability and reliability. It's a direct, compatible alternative to the RDM Red and Blue masts used with the Convert 6.0.The 430 model has an IMCS of 21

and weighs about 1.8-1.9 kg, depending on the source specification. The Gorilla G2 uses 7-point bend curve measurement, letting Severne precisely control the mast's flex characteristics.

The Gorilla G2 is a good choice for this set because it keeps the right flex characteristics for the Convert 6.0, while offering very high resistance to everyday use.

  • Key advantages:
  • RDM 430 cm,
  • IMCS 21,
  • high durability,
  • compatible with the Severne Convert 6.0,
  • a precisely controlled bend curve,
  • 2-year Severne warranty,

a very good choice for recreational freeride.

Boom: Severne Metal 160-210The Severne Metal is a high-end aluminum boom made using T8 Monocoque

technology. It was designed as a stiff, durable alternative to more expensive carbon booms. The 160-210 version has geometry designed for Freemove/Freeride

use. A reduced tube diameter of about 26 mm provides a very comfortable grip and reduces forearm fatigue. The boom uses a Lockjaw

head, which provides a stiff connection with the RDM mast, and a one-piece Uni-Grip that increases the durability of the EVA covering.

  • Key advantages:
  • T8 Monocoque construction,
  • aluminum body,
  • 160-210 cm range,
  • diameter of about 26 mm,
  • Lockjaw head,
  • Uni-Grip EVA,
  • high stiffness,
  • very good grip comfort,

geometry matched to freeride. For the Convert 6.0, the recommended boom length is 183 cm

, so the 160-210 cm range gives plenty of adjustment room and lets you set the sail within the right range.

Extension: Severne Triple RDM 36 cmThe Severne Triple RDM is an extension fitted with three parallel rollers

, whose job is to reduce friction while pulling in the luff. This makes it easier to get the correct sail trim without using a lot of force. The extension has a Dyneema line, an integrated cleat, stainless steel parts, and a system that allows a Zero CM

setting. The 36 cm version gives a large adjustment range.

The Convert 6.0 requires 18 cm of extension, so the 36 cm version provides plenty of adjustment margin and lets you fine-tune the sail precisely.

Mast base: Infinity ExcellentThe Infinity Excellent mast base

provides a solid connection between the board and the rig, ensuring free movement of the setup and a secure connection to the mast track.

Its construction fits well with the character of the whole set, which was designed primarily for easy, comfortable freeride.

Harness lines: Severne Fixed 28"The Severne Fixed 28" are fixed harness lines designed for a classic freeride setup. A length of 28"

provides a comfortable position while riding in the harness and lets you effectively take the load off your arms while getting onto the plane.

The fixed construction keeps an identical setting from session to session, which is especially useful while learning the correct harness position.

How does this set behave on the water? The Verso 138L and Convert 6.0 form a very easy and predictable freeride set.

The board provides high stability and very early planing, while the Convert delivers light, smooth power.

Once on the plane, the Verso accelerates well and stays stable while working the footstraps. Its wide tail and progressive rocker line also help maintain speed on the exit of a turn.

This is a set focused primarily on fast progress: stability, easy planing, control and very forgiving behavior through turns.

Hydrosfera's opinionThis is one of those sets where the components really work together toward the same goal

.The Severne Verso 138 was created specifically as a board for progressive freeride, and the manufacturer itself lists the Convert as one of the best sails for this model

.

138 liters and 78 cm of width provide very high stability, but that doesn't mean the board's usefulness ends once the basics are mastered. Thanks to three footstrap positions, the user can gradually move from a safer setting to a more sporty position and faster riding. The Convert 6.0

complements the board well. It's light, easy to handle and doesn't require cambers, while still offering enough power to make the most of the 138-liter board's potential.A big plus is also the use of the Gorilla G2 430 RDM, which Severne officially lists as a compatible alternative to the Convert 6.0. Unlike previously described sets with masts from other manufacturers, here we get full compatibility of the sail, mast and board within a single brand

.
