Nova Freeride is more balanced, easier to use. Maximum low wind range allows earlier entry into levitation. Top performance that will allow you to take advantage of gusty conditions. For the 2024 season, Carbon UDi technology has been introduced at the wing tips, thanks to these treatments, it stiffens the entire structure, which is useful for freestyle turns and tricks. The pressure on the front and rear arms is even, without straining the back. The wingtip geometry and balanced profile also prevent sideways vibrations when grabbing the front handle, riding upwind, surfing or just standing on the shore. The depth has also been changed, making the wing even more balanced and even more balanced and user-friendly. The new N-X6 trailing edge panel and radial load diffuser provide more even tension and a tighter canopy for better performance. Minimized shaking and a clean leading edge release with less drag has been created. Upwind champions, slide into the wind, sail through the gybs, and rise to jumps with increased hangtime. No matter what your goal is, Nova will get you there faster.

Carbon IDi Technology

North Sails is renowned for using this technology in its podium-proven 3Di racing sails. We’ve taken this same material and applied it to the wingtips of the Nova. To balance the increased stiffness of the wing and frame, and to provide stability at the top of the wing, we’ve narrowed the diameter of the leading edge to the wingtips. The tension in the trailing edge and overall skin tension give the wing more power at the bottom. In the upper range, the ability of the terminals to be self-stable allows for the dissipation of excess power.

New N-X6 trailing edge panels

Lightweight, durable for added length, the Nova's trailing edge panels are made from N-X6, a new high-performance, stretch-resistant material designed specifically to handle heavier loads. Symmetrical reinforcement of 6 yarns is woven into the fabric every 10 mm, both in the warp and weft directions, giving the material very low extensibility and very high tear strength.

New Radial Load Diffuser

The Radial Load Diffuser provides reinforcement at the strut end and wingtips, which helps distribute stresses more evenly in specific load directions, ultimately creating a cleaner canopy with less distortion, resulting in reduced drag.

Intuitive GripLock Rigid Handles

The two long handles are covered with soft EVA material for comfort and allow you to position your hands in the optimal trim position to control the wing's pitch, yaw and roll, while keeping your body in the perfect position over the wing. More freedom in hand positioning allows you to choose the best feel depending on the conditions, arm length and body size. In 2023, an alternative accessory to the handles was introduced in the form of carbon winglets. They can be mounted to all of our rigid wings. Carbon handles reduce the weight of the wing and improve response. Carbon grips make the ride more reactive and lightning-fast.

Instant start and ride

The refined profile gives the Nova wing maximum power in the low range and instant lift. The shifted center of lift always provides smooth laminar flow from LE to TE (without turbulence), and the wing maintains lift through all angle of attack changes. This means fewer micro-adjustments in hand position and a lighter feel for effortless transitions. When tacking, the wing pulls up, allowing for effortless gliding in the eye of the wind. This also contributes to the excellent loft and hangtime of the Nova.
